You may be wondering why I chose this name to be my trademark for this journey of mission work travels. I will try to help you understand why I think this name seems to fit my dream perfectly. The definition of "Wander" is to move or travel about without any definite purpose or destination. I love the idea of traveling around the world and that is what I aim to do! There is definitely a purpose in all that I do. My purpose in all of this is to serve others and to make a difference in others lives by loving them. But, just like the definition says, I don't have any destination, at least a specific physical destination. There is no special place that I feel I need to go to, but I do know that my destination is anywhere where love is needed. In the dictionary the word "Mission" means an inner calling to pursue an activity or perform a service. I love this definition! It perfectly describes my situation. From a young age I have felt the call to do missionary work overseas. I am so passionate about helping others, especially medically, that I am sure it is a desire placed there by God. I know He just wants me to love His people. I am definitely passionate about experiencing the world and its colorful cultures but I am even more passionate about serving and loving others. I think the name "Wander Mission" describes my dream excellently. It combines my yearning to travel and my main mission of helping others.

I decided that, since I am going to Ghana this year, I wanted to learn more about the country and its people, so I did some research. Here are some facts I learned about Ghana:
After Researching, I learned that Ghana is an amazing country, but still has widespread poverty and a serious need for healthcare. I think knowing more about the country and its situation will help me to better serve the Ghanaians when I arrive in Africa. http://www.compassion.com/about/where/ghana.htm https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/gh.html http://www.ghana.gov.gh/ http://www.thehindu.com/multimedia/dynamic/00175/AVN_GHANAGHANA_175421f.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1298/624207684_f7014d1e77.jpg http://secretariat.thecommonwealth.org/ http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/ca/Volta_River_X-Landscape.jpg This May I have the opportunity to start living my dream of providing medical care overseas. I am going to Ghana! A group of students from my school, Philadelphia University, are going to Ghana with an organization called Global Medical Brigades. Global Medical Brigades provides medical relief in areas where healthcare access is limited. We will be setting up a medical clinic in Ghana for ten days where we will care for patients and treat their illnesses. We will have the opportunity to take patient's vitals, assist physicians , and aid in preventative education. I am so excited for this trip because I have never been on a medical mission before and I have never been to Africa. It will be an exciting and rewarding experience that I anxiously await.
